Arrival in San Jose & drive to Tiquicia Lodge

Well we finally made it to Costa Rica.

We sat in our plane on the runway for an extra hour as they were backed up getting planes out of For Lauderdale.

But we made it!

Landing in the warm, sunny San Jose was such a treat for us Minnesotans. We got our rental vehicle and we're off to find our way to Tiquicia Lodge, up near La Paz Waterfall Gardens. We have WiFi in our vehicle and the guy had us download an app that he recommended. It was very helpful. The route would have taken us directly where we needed to go, but we encountered the setup for a Parade/Festival and they rerouted us around it. Then I missed the next turn while navigating and we took the most sketchy dirt path (I can't even call it a road) to get back to the paved road we would have been on. 😔

Bryan did a great job driving and other than my minor hiccup I thought I had done my part on being the navigator. This is probably the best place for Bryan's crazy & aggressive driving to work to our benefit.

We arrived at Tiquicia Lodge a little before 5 pm. We were starving because after our 6 am breakfast in the FL airport we hadn't eaten anything.

After the guy got us checked into our room we brought our bags in and briefly got settled before going back up to the main lodge for dinner.

We had a delicious meal. I'm going to have to believe it would have been fantastic regardless of how hungry we were. But I loved my meal. Chicken Casado with rice and beans, salad  and fried plantains with cheese and a yummy potato mash. We both finished our plates! And to Bryan's luck they even had a tv on that was playing the Atlanta / Seattle game. Now if only he could have tomorrow night's Green Bay game figured out and we could go on enjoying our honeymoon without worrying about the football games. 😘

Where we ate dinner near the Lodge was a beautiful pond with a view of the mountains in the distance. Animals all over the grounds, ducks, cows, goats, & hummingbirds.

We're going to go to bed early (actually as I type this at 7:15 pm Bryan is already asleep). Busy day planned for tomorrow and we didn't get much sleep in the airport or on the plane here. And I definitely need him alert for driving here!

❤, Christie & Bryan
