Alice Springs

This morning we left hot and muggy Cairns for hotter and drier Alice Springs.

Today was pretty uneventful, so I apologize that this update is kind of lame.

The shuttle picked us up at the hostel and brought us to the airport. We have decided that Quantas is pretty much da bomb. Do people say that anymore?  Probably not...so Quantas was amazing. Check in and security were a breeze, and we got snacks and lunch on our flight.

Arriving in Alice Springs we could see NOTHING out of the plane windows. Not because the windows weren't open, it's just that there is nothing out here. Our shuttle driver explained that the next closest town is 500k away.

It's a tiny little town and it's crazy hot here. After checking into our room we organized everything we need to bring on our Outback tour since we leave really early. Then decided we would go lay out by our pool. Even with getting in the water, we still only lasted about 10 minutes. The cement was so hot that you couldn't even lay down on a towel.

Instead we decided to walk into town for some dinner. We made it to McDonald's and had a bite to eat and learned that their icecream cones are only 30 cents!

We don't have free WiFi, but bought 24 hours worth for less than $10. No real plans for the rest of the night. I used some the night to look up information of our stops in the outback. Our pickup is early tomorrow morning so we will probably be going to bed early.

Cya after the Outback! That is if we don't melt, the forecast looks to be right around 100 everyday.

P.S. the pictures are of our new 2012 trip matching bracelets, the mini pop and mini pretzels on the plane, and the view of the desert as we descended into Alice Springs. I told you it wasn't very exciting! :)

Thanks for reading!
